Technology for teaching vocabulary

we also know that vocabulary is one of the most important subject for learning second language. In this meeting we discussed about technology for learning vocabulary . After that, there are usually groups that have to presented their syllabus. so this is their syllabus.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Vocabulary Studies is a fundamental English/Language Arts course that focuses on helping students improve and understand vocabulary words by examination of Greek and Latin bases of words, recognition of word parts such as prefixes and suffixes, and looking at the etymological, or root, meanings of words. Students will recognize relationships between words (analogies, synonyms, and antonyms).

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  1. To introduce students to English vocabulary.
  2. To develop basic English skills (Speaking, Listening, Writing, and reading) by understand the vocabulary first.
  3. To expand students’ vocabulary in order to improve students’ grammar.
  4. To be able to apply the English vocabulary in daily conversation.
  5. To make students to be able to describe their daily activity by using the  vocabulary they already understand.

COURSE EXPECTATIONS

  • Class will learn as much as possible about using technology in the classroom. Students will be able to gain new knowledge about technology and learn how to apply that knowledge specially in vocabulary. The skills that will be teaching in this class will also be helpful for students in other classes and their personal life. students will expect to leave this class with confidence in their ability to use technology in learn vocabulary.
  • Students are expected to display tolerance and respect in all communication. Communicate with others the same way students do in a traditional classroom. Comments and language should be respectful and appropriate for learners.
  • Students must be active participant.  Students are expected to contribute to each class session.  This includes asking questions, answering others questions, and adding relevant information. 
  • Attendance is necessary to keep up with the class. If a student misses class time, they are missing the instruction time needed to learn a skill. However, if a student must miss class, they are required to make up missed work in a timely manner (1 day for each excused day missed, after which deductions will be made for late work).
  • Students are required to keep up with their assigned reading and turn in assignments on time. Students will lose valuable learning experiences if they come to class unprepared.
