In this meeting Mr. Dedy was present some videos related to the Speaking course. In those videos explain how important speaking, what the teacher should know, and then the advice for the teacher.
And also the videos offered some technologies and resources that we can use when we teach speaking. After the end of the session we have to answer some questions that have been provided in form A04. And then after we have been following this session we have to make a small group discussion to teaching speaking in a large class. Here is my report from our discussion “teaching speaking in large class”
My discussion report
In this opportunity we have been discussed about teaching speaking in large class. We using WA group to express our respective opinion. We also discuss about how technology helping learners able to achieve their maximum potential in speaking.
So this is my summary for our discussion. In teaching speaking, Speaking is one of the skills that have to be mastered by student in learning English speaking is an essential tool for communicating. In the class room, improving the speaking abilities of student has always been a concern. In the fast developing 21st century various innovative technology can help student to improve their speaking skill. For the example like Internet, podcast, video conferencing , speech , etc.
In teaching speaking, we as the teacher have to make small group for student and also give the new topic for student to discuss it. In these small group student can have interaction for their member to discuss some topics. Students’ Interaction also helping them express their own opinion and solve the problems with each other. From this activity students can improve their speaking skill indirectly. For small group discussion we also can use some technology to help student improve their speaking skill , such as WhatsApp, skype, and Podcast. For those technologies student can keep interaction for each other even though they’re not in the class.
In teaching speaking for the large class we as the teacher can give instruction for students to deliver a speech in front of the class. This activity could improve their confident to perform in large forum. For this activity we can also use some technology to guide our students to gain successful speech such as internet to search the information and speech material . And also we can use projectors to display the material.
My reflection for our discussion is we as teacher have to make right strategy for teaching speaking in large class. We have control the activity for student during learning process. And also using small group discussion can engage student to improve their listening skill. Teaching speaking using the technology such as podcast, YouTube, skype to make effective for learning process. And using technology became interesting way for student to enjoy their lesson.
